Southern Hills Soft-tip Dart League
League Rules and Format
Fall 2010-2011
1.
League game play is 501, any in/any out, single
50 point bullseye, 12 games with 1 team all play.
2.
Teams may be any combination of women/men, two
teams. All players must be at least
21 years old.
3.
All matches start at 7:00pm.
4.
A 15-minute grace period is allowed before a
match is considered a forfeit.
5.
Each Team must designate a responsible team
captain.
6.
Location sponsor fees will be collected by the
vending companies. Sponsors will be
charged an extra $50 bond per team in the league that will be returned directly
to the sponsors upon completion of the team for the entire season. If any team drops from the league, the $50
bond will be returned to the league’s prize fund.
7.
Player fees are $5.00 per player per night.
8.
A $8.00 NATIONAL DART ASSOCIATION sanction fee
is due on each player’s first night of play.
All players must be sanctioned.
The NDA membership is for one year and is required to play in the state
singles, state doubles and state team tournaments.
9.
All players must provide the following
information to be sanctioned:
a. Full name
(Nicknames are not acceptable.)
b. Complete
mailing address, including zip codes and phone numbers.
10.
Any game in which an unsanctioned players
shoots will be considered a loss.
11.
All league monies less expenses, tournament
costs, trophies, and award costs will be returned to each team based on each
team’s total wins. State tournament
costs will be $40.00 per team for each team that attends the South Dakota State
Team Dart Tournament. The player fees
will be divided at the end of the season based upon a 60%-40% split. The 60% of player fees will be divided among
teams based upon team wins. The
remaining 40% will be used as prize money for the league tournament.
12.
All matches will be played according to the NDA
rules with the exception of the dart weight limit. The league weight limit is 18 grams. * Please note: play in the state and national
tournaments will require players to abide by the NDA Limit.
13.
All league matches must be shot on a dartboard
owned and operated by a NDA Chartered Operator.
14.
League play will be handicapped. Handicap is based on points per dart for 501.
15.
Opening night matches will be shot scratch
darts with all subsequent matches being shot with handicap.
16.
Any players shooting in their first match
within the first 4 weeks of league play will be given an automatic handicap of
3 darts until they establish an average.
After the 4 week limit, any player shooting in their first match will be
shooting scratch (0) darts the first round.
17.
Once a player plays for a team, that player may
not shoot for any other team in that league.
18.
Team rosters are limited to a maximum of eight
(8) players. The only exception being a
player is physically unable to play due to injury, illness, or moving from the
area. Any team using more than eight
players will be assessed a $15.00 penalty subtracted from the teams prize money
for each player over eight.
19.
Forfeits: Teams that receive a forfeit from
another team will get 13 wins, except for matches within the last 3 weeks. The
forfeiting team will receive no wins. Any Forfeits within the last 3 weeks of
play the team will be given their average number of wins based upon all league
nights. Each team will be allowed three
(3) forfeits for the league season.
Teams that forfeit more than 3 times within the league season will be
removed from the league for the remainder of the season under the Board of
Directors discretion.
20.
All scoresheet envelopes are to be delivered to
Jenny Rec, The Vault, Woollys, or VFW in

The Board of Directors may adjust the handicap
to an appropriate level for any player that is determined to be sandbagging.
22.
Any shortages in dues money will be subtracted
from the team’s prize money and will occur a $1.00 penalty for each dollar. An
additional $20.00 fee will be charged to any team that is short for two (2)
consecutive weeks. Being short for three
consecutive weeks will result in that teams removal from the league for the
remainder of the season.
23.
Record all necessary information (name,
address, zip code, and phone number) of any new players that join the team
after the first night of play on the envelope.
24.
In the event that a match must be re-scheduled,
a 24-hour notice will be given to the opposing team captain and the league
director. Any rescheduled matches must
be played before the following Monday. Postponements within the last two (2) weeks of
scheduled league matches must be made up be the Saturday following the
completion of the league.
25.
Teams may play 1 player short and use a dummy
score. The dummy score will be the PPD
minus 3 points of the lowest player on that team (even if that player is
shooting). Enter the scoresheet as
player “XX”. Example: PPD of 19.55 - 3 darts = 16.55. Always Round Up. A Dummy
player cannot go out or win a match.
26.
No known masters players.
27.
Any disputes that cannot be settled by the team
captains will be decided and ruled upon by the Board of Directors. All decisions are final. Any protests must be accompanied by a $20.00
protest fee. The protest fee will be returned
if the ruling favors protesting team.
28.
In the event a player reached zero and his/her
partner’s score was too high to go out, the individual player on the opposing
team with the lowest score will be credited with the win.
29.
Teams that move from their team sponsor to
another, the captain of that team is responsible to notify the other team
captains of the move and new location.
They are also responsible for re-imbursement of sponsor fees.
30.
Any league player or patron of any league may
shoot on any unused dart boards in that location during the shooting of any
scheduled league match as long as the dart board is coined into game play and a
game is selected.
31.
The fall league will be a minimum of 20 weeks.
32.
Boundary
Limits of the Southern Hills League are as follows: no locations south
of Oelrichs, west of Edgemont, north of Pringle and east of Buffalo Gap.
33.
Unsportmen-like conduct:
a. Any action
that is loud, abusive, mean-spirited, delaying, injurious, or just plain
obnoxious will be investigated and penalized.
b. Any and
all complaints received by the Board of Directors will be dealt with.
c. If a
complaint is determined to be valid, the following penalties will be enforced:
i.
First Complaint – warning to team and/or
offending player.
ii.
Second Complaint - $25.00 team penalty from the
prize money.
iii.
Third Complaint - $50.00 penalty from the prize
fund and a two week suspension from league play or a more severe suspension if
the Board of Directors so determined.
34.
The most important rule is to use common sense
and consideration – BE A GOOD
SPORT.
